LOCARNO . Spring 2025 . hand built, mixed clay stoneware
In my third residency @ Momento Ceramics, I created a collection of 11 pieces entitled A Locarno, Con Amore.
In both my watercolor paintings and my ceramics, cairns, stone walls and freeform balancing shapes are motifs I return to again and again. Painting or carving small shapes and balancing them in the moment of making centers me, moving me into a space of flow. My Locarnese works evoke ancient vessels, beached on the shore, supported by piles of small rocks and cairns. They are also candleholders: symbols of devotion, ritual, and markers of time and place. My collection is an offering of light, born of joy, discovery and love for a city which holds a special place in my heart.
Opening reception . April 11 . Amali Concept Store . with a new collection of works by Tessa Donati
